Holiday colors

Merry Christmas!

Thought I'd be in the holiday spirit with my outfit and wore a sequined top with bold orange red lipstick to celebrate the birthday girl turning the big 25.   Nothing says the holidays like sequins and red lips!

I was never one to wear red lips due to my pale white skin, but this orange-red shade is suuuper for those with a light complexion.  Perfect shade of red with a bright pop of orange to keep things fresh. AND the best part, it stayed put throughout the entire night of cocktail drinking.

In the Moment: patent loafers

In love with my new patent loafers.  My other pair of black flats were to the point of no return.  Quite embarrassing to walk around in.  Picked these up and it's such a great alternative.  AND they didn't cost me a fortune. Love cheap thrills!

Basics

Here I am.  Taking a temporary break from blogging, but of course continually keeping up with the fashion scene, just not taking part in it as often as I would like.

Some 'new' things that I added to my closet:

Shimmer Top (Gap)
Stripe top (so prada-esque, f21)
Denim top (finallly! found a perfect denim shirt I love and fits so well, topshop)
Leather pleated skirt (finally! as close as it comes to the much coveted Zara version, Free People)

Super sunglasses, thrifted top, UO shorts, Celine bag, jcrew flats

Checked out the Kava festival again this year at UH Manoa campus -- very candid shot, thus the unflattering  photo of me.  The wavering weather kept our stay here short -- sun, rain, sun rain....

BTW,  I heart my new sunglasses.  Mix of the norm ray ban wayferers mixed with a slight edge.

Street Style

image c/o carolinesmode

Cool Factor.
Shes definitely got it.
Every piece of item she has on, I want it on me.
My inspiration of the day.
Swoooon.

All black -- check.
Jimmy Choo sneakers -- double check.
Classic black prada bag -- check
Statement jewelry -- check.

One of the best fashion inspirations come from street style -- images of personal style reflecting the current runway fashion.  Average girls mixing in their own personal touches with in-the-moment pieces make the fashion scene such an eclectic mix and gives me a pool of inspiration to draw from.

Currently on my radar:
- a pair of hi-tops
- more arm candy
- Mesh over-sized sweater
- Pleated skirts
- loafers
- slouchy trouser
- Charlotte Olympia heels (this should be considered more of a 'wishlist')

Arm Candy

Arm candy, the latest trend that I haven't quite experimented... Perhaps I'm just too picky about my selection, but really it's because my teeny tiny wrists can't adorn the normal size bracelets, waaaah!

My style for arm candy is mixing simpleness with a little edge OR you can go the other popular route and go a little Gypsy --- everything from Hermes to Cartier mixing with eclectic neon color friendship bracelets. Which is your style? What I would do to get an Hermes bracelet slapped on my wrist.. swoooon.

My personal favorite is of course Olivia Palermo's arm candy. 3 pieces of cc skye spike bracelet in gold and silver. so simple yet a statement piece. Get on my wrist!

W H I T E

Whoever created the term 'HAPPY HOUR' is a genius and I must thank you. Started in familiar territory then drifted through the night in unfamiliar terrortiy while walking aimlessly into the streets of tourist-filled Waikiki.

Definitely was in my comfort zone at my usual happy hour spot, then definately stuck out like a sore thumb as I ventured toward 'hawaiian' land... As I stood at the suffocating and overcrowded bar with a beer in hand, wearing my white blazer, I observed in passing, girls wearing skin tight dresses and borderline hooker heels.. stood out like a sore thumb.  Finished half my beer and jetted off.

candids.

4 cocktails, 1 glass of wine, 2 beers later this is the end result.  Singing karaoke in public..  Thank you alcohol for giving me 'beer- confidence' instead of 'beer-goggles'.

Gallivanting around

Late (really late) Fourth of July post..

Spent my 3 day weekend with alot of bbq-ing on our patio and feeding my mouth with meat, meat and more meat.  Of course, my weekend isn't officially a weekend without some cocktails.  Met up with a friend sipping on cocktails, wine and more cocktails, bar hopping, mischievous behavior,  late night karaoke, and finally ending the night satisfying our hunger pangs with comfort food -- saimen overloaded with Tabasco (don't judge.)

You can NOT end the night out without her wanting a bathroom picture. Can't stop it. lol

Lately

Such complete bliss coming back from a much needed stay-cation last week. Photos below show just the tip of the iceberg on the highlights of my week, mainly involving late (late) night drinking.

Lunch date at Downtown @ HISAM

Art Museum above Downtown restaurant

New pair of Jcrew flats. They feel like walking on air.

Our many stops to the garden section of Home Depot.  Attempting to grow organic vegetables and fruits

Wedding at Ko'olau.  No pics of me in my super cute cream and yellow dress I bought! :( Another reason why I question my blogs existence when there are no photos to share!

Just one of the many late late nights out.  See something new? Yup, I finally got me some bangs! still contemplating on keeping them or not. Enjoying the guy in the background? lol

It's officially SUMMER!
Which means weddings galore.  If you live in Hawaii and need a great makeup artist & hair for your special day, check out Susan!

Test Walk

Just a short update for those who have (or not) missed my blog posts. For those who missed me, continue reading below.

Finally took my heels out for a test walk this past weekend while spending some qt time with the boy, just us.. how rare!  We've been so accustomed to going out with friends that it was refreshing and quite an adventure to spend a night in town with your other half.  Drinking and eating, it's what we do best.

Hello Lover

Words can't explain the excitement of finallly owning a pair of 'red soles'. Girls badly want it, guys just don't understand the red sole phenomenon-- just let girls be girls. There it was, at my doorstep just screaming my name to be opened, it was Christmas in April. I have yet to master walking in these almost 5-inchers without looking like a fool.. carpet walking until I am ready.

Here's to the beginning of a new addiction.  Move aside purses, you have competition..

Yes, please

Oh my!
A perfect inspiration to convert one of the rooms into dreamy a walk-in closet such as this.  Using a simple white bookcase-like design to showcase your shoes and purses is design at it's finest. Now I just need to accumulate fabulous heels worthy enough to be displayed.

Aside from fashion being my hobby, interior design would follow right behind it.  Keeping with my personal style of minimalism and modern, taking those elements definitely help inspire me to build my dream home --- one room at a time --- starting with a walk in closet!

Easter

Happy Easter.  I'm still a young kid at heart as I still find egg painting and decorating a fun activity.  Egg painting with an ice cold beverage in hand makes this years Easter better than the last.  Let the tradition continue...

Forever Young

Twenty-Seven.
So much closer to getting to the age of the big 3-0. Should I have been cheers-ing or boo-ing? Celebrated the night visiting my favorite spot to enjoy a nice glass of red wine at Formaggio's.  It's somewhat has become a yearly tradition to come here on my birthday --- good food, great wine, excellent service.  Ended the quiet night with a champagne toast at home.

So, weekend, I am this much closer to you... are you ready for my alcoholic consumption or lack thereof?

You're my favorite

Here are some beauty products that I absolutely can't live without that I use in my DAILY routine.

My number one favorite beauty product is the Clarisonic face brush that I received as a Christmas gift from the boy 2 years ago after much begging and pleading.   It does have a hefty price tag of $200, but if you're all about having great glowing skin as much as I am, this product will not disappoint or leave you regretting making the purchase.  Absolutely worth it.

1.    Clarisonic
2.    Boots Anti-aging serum
3.    NAKED palette by Urban Decay
4.    Anastasia Eyebrow pencil
5.    Nars blush in Orgasm
6.    MAC blush brush
7.    MAC eyeliner pencil
8.    Bobbi Brown Gel eyeliner
9.    Bobbi Brown concealer duo
10.  MAC eyeshadow palette
** Forgot  to include my MAC bronzer (being as white as a ghost, this is a MUST)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Loves It: Color Block

How amazing is this Lookbook from Zara! Ob-sessed.  Yet again, another great store not available in Hawaii so on a hunt I shall go to find similar pieces.  A BIG trend this spring.. Color Blocking.

Mix. Mix. Mix.  Black gray and white colors are my comfort zone --- to shy away from your signature colors is hard, but fashion is ever-changing so I've introduced wardrobe to some 'color'.  Bold prints and bright colors can sometimes leave you looking cheap or tacky, so when I find that perfect piece, it's mine.

Lack of posts due to me being in hibernation for about a month now?  Haven't had the urge to go out, thus no outfit posting.  Yet, I still continue to buy more clothes but yet have no place to wear out.  It's quite a contradiction and complete waste of my money!  But, a girl needs to shop and shopping is what keeps me sane and happy.  Let's take a moment and drool over these amazing pieces that i CANT purchase.

 Swooooooon..

There's always second best

Sigh... oh how I've longed for this Celine Flap bag for quite some time.

Highly doubtful I will get my hands on the Celine Flap bag due to another huge purchase I recently made.  Which means exploring other options and settling with second best (but sometimes second best is not too shabby)

F21 has made their own version, and so has Marc by Marc Jacobs. I have my eye on the latter.. I'm loving the orange/rust color of this bag! I want! Perfect for spring.

Spring is coming soon. Hooooray. Which means bright & bold colors popping up everywhere.
I'm looking forward to trying an outfit color combo of red & bright pink.
Totally unexpected, but totally works.

The number 6

Celebrated this weekend with the boy for our 6 years together. Went to our usual yearly spot, Formaggios, where we wined and dined.  If drinking wine that night wasn't enough for us, we headed over to the market to peruse the wine aisle to add to our collection. It's been chilly here (by chilly I mean it reached below 65 degrees here in hawaii), so I bundled up in a sweater and leather pants for my outfit.  I miss cold weather, it reminds of my time living in LA.

A new year means a new beginning to relationships. This year we promised each other to start the year with a fresh start filled with love, respect and plenty fun :) 2010 was rough, now we can only look into the future with an open mind and heart for each other.

Topshop clutch, f21 sweater and leather pants, Dolce vita heels, marc jacobs watch

Hope everyone had a great twenty eleven. How fast this year went by. Read this quote on a bloggers page this morning and what a great mind set to start off the new year.

When I'm old and dying, I plan to look back on my life and say, 'Wow, that was an adventure,' not 'Wow, I sure felt safe."
