Put a ring on it

I've been obsessed with cocktail rings for awhile now and while my collection is small, i really do heart them.  I need to start adding to my collection again since I've lost a couple during bathroom mishaps of leaving them on the counter to wash my hands then returning back to find them gone! (ring stealers are evil).

My usual source to find cute and unique rings are f21 and random stores I happen to walk into and go straight to their accessories section.  The inspiration I go for when choosing my rings are: One, somewhat of a vintage feel and two, simple but BIG and BOLD.  I tend to lean toward anything gold.

My current love is my gold square ring i purchased about 3 months ago at Club MOnaco, which by the way is one of my favorite stores (I only wish I could afford everything in there).  It's so simple yet its Big and Bold. Sadly it happens to have some scuffs and scratches -- maybe I can pick up another pair if they still have them in stock.

Need to start up my routine again and go on a hunt for more rings to adorn my fingers.  My tiny wrists won't allow me to wear cuffs and bracelets, it just completely falls off. what a shame.

don't mind my short stubby fingers.

Wine & Dine

I love wine. Red wine, white wine, I love them all.

A Napa Valley trip has been definitely overdue (tightening my money belt these days) so until that trip can be made we are always looking for any events/locations that give us the same experience.  Thus, we ventured into wine tasting in Hawaii at 'Wine the Experience' in Kapahulu -- cute and quaint would describe the interior space.  Of course its no Napa Valley, but they did their best to try and give it that same experience you would get visiting a typical winery.

I am a wine-o, so we couldn't just stop at our 6 wine tasting, so we went ahead and purchased a bottle to what we thought was the 'thumbs up' of all 6 tastings.

Dined to my favorite type of food, Japanese, at Tokkuritei.   Ended the night with a breezy stroll through the streets of Kapahulu.

I'm really into the messy up-do bun right now.

R & R

Finally got to use my organically grown Cilantro to make my first attempt at homemade salsa for Fajitas! Of course we didn't get the smoky and grilling sound effect you would get on a stone grill at a restaurant, but my frying pan did its job.

I contribute my love of Mexican food to living in LA for 4 years. I was extremely sad to move back home to find a rare pick of 'authentic' Mexican places and people who haven't been introduced to real Mexican thinking Taco Bell is the real deal -- it's slim pickings here!

Salsa -- Success
Fajita -- 2nd trial coming soon

Enjoying some R&R is how I like to enjoy my weekends.  A nice cold beer in hand, going to a  college baseball game (no relation to my Alma Mater, go Lions! ha) and sitting under a shady tree watching family fun softball is quite calming.

Let's minus the 12" hot dog and  garlic fries I devoured.  Being at a baseball game is like giving yourself a 'Free Pass' to eat like a fat kid, to which I can happily remove off my 'Trying to Eat Healthy' promise I made to myself due to my slowing metabolism I was fortunate to have my entire life.  That's old age kicking in.

Happy Hour

Equals Happy Me!

I love everything about Happy Hour, especially when food and drinks are only $5.   My ideal Friday:  getting off work at 5pm and heading straight to Pearl for their Happy Hour -- Pearl Signature cocktail, Kobe burgers and crab cakes.. yum!

Chatting about the week while sipping on some cocktails is the best way to unwind after a long and stressful work week and kick off the weekend right.  I'm always on the hunt for a good happy hour.  One downfall of this is that you start your alcohol consumption pretty early in the evening, which means bar hopping all night.
